The JVC XL-PG37 is a portable CD player which will play audio CDs, plus CD-R/RW discs. The player offers forty-five seconds of anti-skip protection, making the player a nice choice for people who like to listen to their favorite CDs while exercising or while commuting on the bus. If you decide to purchase a few key optional accessories, this player could be used in a vehicle's cassette player. The black color would certainly look stylish in a car or truck. Yet, even without the optional accessories, the player is a nice choice for portable listening. There are a few play mode options, including normal play, repeat, random, and twenty-track program. The required batteries will run the player for an impressive twenty hours (alkaline.) For those interested in saving batteries, the player is ready for rechargeable batteries. Sound quality is much improved with the hyper-bass sound system. Other features include: hold switch, 1-bit D/A converter, DC input, and heat-resistant casing.

Better than average-worth the price!

My soldier son wanted a good cd player to carry with him when traveling and otherwise permitted. He was looking for good sound and reliability, and says he got both in this player. When I asked him whether it was worth the 3-4 times higher than the average cd player price, his answer was an unqualified "YES." The only reasons this doesn't get a 5 star rating is that the player doesn't appear to be the sturdiest thing (despite its anti-shock characteristics), and that it comes with no protective case or rechargeable batteries. It is hard to find a better than average cd player that will play all types of cds these days, but this one fills the bill!
